Auto A/C repair in Houston.
Cold air, fast.

The shop

In Houston, A/C isn\u2019t optional.

When the heat index hits triple digits, a weak A/C system goes from inconvenient to dangerous. Premier Auto Care has fixed automotive air conditioning in Houston since 2007 — from a quick recharge on a daily driver to full compressor jobs on European and diesel vehicles.

Every A/C service starts with a real diagnosis: system pressure, vent temperature, leak check with electronic detector and UV dye, and a look at the compressor clutch and condenser. We don’t just dump refrigerant in and hope.

Warning signs

When to bring it in.

Any one of these means it's time for a look — sooner is cheaper than later.

Air blows warm or weak

Low charge, failing compressor, blocked condenser, or a stuck blend door. Multiple causes — needs a real check.

Cold on one side, warm the other

Classic blend-door actuator failure on most vehicles. A small part, often hidden under the dash.

A/C smells musty

Mold and bacteria on the evaporator. Cabin filter replacement and evaporator service handle it.

Loud noise when A/C engages

Compressor clutch, bearing, or internal failure. Catch it early — a $400 compressor beats a $1,500 job.

A/C cycles on and off rapidly

Low refrigerant or a faulty pressure switch. Both fixable, neither will get better on its own.

Visible leak or oil residue

Refrigerant oil leaves a wet, oily film at hose fittings and at the compressor. We trace it and seal it.

What's included

Done right, the first time.

ASE-certified technicians, OE-grade parts, and a written estimate before any work starts.

  • Performance check

Vent temp, system pressures, and clutch operation tested against spec.

  • Leak detection

Electronic detector and UV dye to find exactly where refrigerant is escaping.

  • Evacuate & recharge

Proper vacuum, weighed-in refrigerant charge, and oil correction. R-134a and R-1234yf.

  • Compressor replacement

OE-grade compressors with new dryer, orifice tube, and proper oil charge.

  • Condenser & evaporator

Front-mount condensers and under-dash evaporators replaced when leak or clog requires it.

  • Cabin filter & odor service

New cabin filter and evaporator coil treatment to kill the locker-room smell.

Both refrigerants handled

Newer vehicles run R-1234yf. We have the equipment, the refrigerant, and the certification.

Diagnose before charging

If your system leaks, dumping refrigerant in is wasted money. We find the leak first.

Common questions

Quick answers.

How much does A/C recharge cost in Houston?+

A basic leak-check and R-134a recharge runs $150–$250. R-1234yf is more because the refrigerant itself is much more expensive. Compressor jobs are quoted after diagnosis.

My A/C worked yesterday and not today — what happened?+

Most commonly a small leak that finally crossed the low-pressure threshold, or a failed compressor clutch. Both diagnosable in under an hour.

Can you do A/C on European cars?+

Yes — BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, VW, Volvo, Mini, Porsche. European A/C systems are normal jobs for us.

Is it worth fixing A/C on an older car?+

In Houston, almost always yes. Resale, comfort, and safety all benefit. We’ll tell you honestly if it’s past saving.

Do you offer A/C warranty?+

Yes — see our Guarantees page for current parts-and-labor warranty terms.
